Since 2011 the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft deutscher Kunstvereine" (ADKV) in cooperation with the Center for German and European Studies (CGES) at the University of Minnesota has been organizing an exchange between its art associations and American students at the University of Minnesota USA. In 2013, the cooperation was expanded through the program "WorkART connections" Kunstverein Curators in the Twin Cities, in which the artistic director Gudrun Thiessen-Schneider also participated in 2014 and subsequently invited eight master students to Neuenhaus for an exhibition "out of the suitcase". These curatorial trips promote a professional dialogue between art associations and the art scene of the Midwest.

WorkART Connections, initiated in 2013 is a unique partnership between the University of Minnesota and Germany’s ADKV, a national association of community-based nonprofit art galleries dedicated to exploring and presenting contemporary art.
The project is supported by the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony and the city of Neuenhaus.
