Art and reality are the two central poles in the work of Maik and Dirk Löbbert. Their works usually consist of only minimal changes, barely perceptible interventions that are almost always only recognizable at second glance.
These site-specific interventions are the result of an intensive examination of the respective situation. The existing is carefully analysed by the two brothers in order to filter out what is special and unique about the respective location, its characteristic and specific features.
Since 2001, Maik and Dirk Löbbert have held a professorship for sculpture and art in public space at the Kunstakademie Münster. Maik Löbbert has been rector of the Münster Art Academy since 2005.
