In addition to his video work, the main focus of this exhibition showcases a new series of planets, which Nowak has been working on for the past year and a half. The Planets are elaborately, computer-generated representations that share both distant and close effects towards the difference of contents and raise three main questions: In which world do we want to live; and in what world do we already live in? To what extent are our experiences of reality and perceptions subjective or manipulated? The point of art history which occurs in his work are related to the idea of individual and group sculptures by Tilmann Riemenschneider, Auguste Rodin and Stefan Balkenhol as well as the system of optical illusions by M.C. Escher and HR Giger. Architecture and film history are two other subjects that play an important role in his work.
Video works in the show: SUS 2015 / MYRINX 2017 / PRESENCE 2017; videos projected on the flat screen: Dissonance / The Centrifuge Brain Project / Roadtrip to Babel.
Till Nowak has worked for big Hollywood film studios and developed his own worlds for blockbuster movies like "Black Panther" and "Lion King".
Born 1980 in Bonn, he founded the studio frameboX in 1999, and studied "Media Design" in Mainz from 2000-2005. Since 2015 Nowak has been living in Los Angeles.
Sponsored by: Fondation Erica Sauter (Geneva), The City of Neuenhaus, and The Lower Saxony Ministry for Science and Culture.
