Auf schwankendem Boden / On Shaky Ground

February 7th - April 19th, 2009

Martin Brüger (born 1965), lives and works in Darmstadt.
In the Kunstverein he presents the large-scale installation "On Shaky Ground" and shows objects and images.  His work spans the arch over different modes of reproducing spatial reality.  In his work are objects that want to be "concrete art" forms, and which trigger wide associations despite their minimalist appearance.
In his photographs, he confuses the viewer by using the medium of documentary as a sort of game.
The walk-in sculpture "Auf schwankendem Boden / On Shaky Ground" (dimensions 6 x 2.50 x 2.50 meters) was furnished with used furniture, wallpaper, images, records, and lights on all of the interior walls.  The room moves due to a special mounting of the room's base, so that the visitor is exposed to further irritation or shaking as they pass through.  The "furniture" was compiled from citizens of the surrounding region.

A catalog in cooperation of Kunstverein Ingolstadt has been produced.

The exhibition is funded by the State of Lower Saxony and by the city of Neuenhaus, the city of Ingolstadt and the Arts Fund, and by the company Büter + Jeurink (carpentry) and Lindschulte + Partners (structural).
