Artist talk with Thomas Kaminsky
Lecture by Michael Bockemühl (University of Witten): "Bild und Urbild. Questions on the Presence of Art".
To the Absolute we recommend the most friendly reception of the primordial phenomenon
Goethe sent Hegel, in addition to a letter dated April 15, 1821, two objects to demonstrate the theory of color: a milky drinking glass that makes light appear yellow, and a piece of black silk that demonstrates that such darkness, illuminated by light, appears blue. The following note from Goethe's hand was attached to the objects: "To the Absolute, the primordial phenomenon should be warmly welcomed."
The works of the above-mentioned artists were arranged centrally around Antonio Calderara's development from still life/landscape painting to monochrome painting. The tension between the presented positions made the exhibition special.
A catalogue has been published for the exhibition.
Supported by the city of Neuenhaus and the state of Lower Saxony.
