The media artist and photographer Sarah Janßen (*1986 Nordhorn) deals in her works with our perception and the effect of images. The analysis of the visual language of film plays a special role in her work. Her multimedia project cineanalogies, for example, is based on a specially created collection of stereotypical images from feature films. The examined film images form the basis for many of the artist's video works. The film programme compiled for the exhibition in the Old Town Hall provides an overview of her diverse works, which range from computer-generated graphic animations to self-made video recordings.The exhibition also includes some of the artist's photographic works. The digital photographs from the series sense of locality are a study of the reciprocal relationship between people and their surroundings. These self-portraits in public space deal with the perception of one's own environment and the attempt to identify with it.
