Lecture by Stephan Klimas entitled "Hazardous User Interfaces"

The term "user interface" subsumes all of the various possibilities of contemporary image production and their uses.  All images are infinitely reproducible and can be consumed on different "surfaces" (computer, print media, etc.).

"Hazardous User Interface" is the combined conceptual approach of the artists Alison Dalwood (born 1953, Great Britain), Stephan Klimas (born 1958, Great Britain/Germany), and Michael Wright (born 1955, Great Britain).  Due to their different origins, the artists reflect the diverse cultural influences that have shaped their personal perspectives.  Their work takes into account the role of their cultural, as well as physical, terrain and its influence on the identity of an individual.  They focus on the ever-more rapidly evolving and shifting "dangerous" user interfaces that host images and meaning in today's world.  By creating suspense, these works force the viewer to question the main currents of visual language and their conscious or unconscious influence on our natural and social understanding.
